It's not just videos. It's an app.

What it feels like inside

Every chapter opens like an app on your phone. One idea per screen, and Mini Miranda reads each one to you in my voice, so you can learn between clients. Then you do something with it. Pick the swatch that matches her ends, not her roots. Choose the section size for her hair type. Tap where a bond sits and see what happens when it's too close to the part. Each chapter ends with a five-question check. Four out of five opens the next one. No drip, no deadline, and it's yours to keep.

How every module works

Built for a stylist with ten minutes between clients.

  • One idea per screen

Short screens that fit on your phone. Read it, get it, tap Next.

  • Mini Miranda reads it to you

Every screen is voiced in my own voice, so you can learn with your hands busy.

  • Tap, drag, check

Each module gives you things to do, not just read. Slide it, sort it, try it.

  • Four out of five to move on

A five-question check closes every module, so you know it actually stuck.

  • Ask Miranda any time

Tap the cartoon me on any screen and ask about the module you're in.

  • Your pace, no deadline

Do a module a week or the whole course in a weekend. It's yours to keep.

FAQ

  • Who is this course for?

Licensed hairstylists and apprentices who want to add extensions properly, and working extension stylists who were trained by one brand and want to understand the why behind every method so they can work with any hair from any supplier. If you've ever felt your certification taught you a product rather than a craft, this was built for you. You don't need to be in Canada: the methods, mechanisms and business material are the same everywhere, and where the course touches regulation it tells you to check your own province or state board.

  • What does "brand-trained, brand-free" mean?

Most extension education is run by the company selling the hair, so you learn their system, their tools and their talking points. This course is independent. It teaches the mechanism behind every method (why a tape adhesive holds and why it lets go, why a silicone-lined bead grips without heat or glue, what temperature range actually forms a keratin bond) so you can evaluate any product on the market for yourself. No brand sponsors this course and none is recommended over another.

  • Which methods are covered?

Four: tape-ins, K-tips (keratin fusion), I-tips (cold fusion beaded strands), and beaded wefts, both hand-tied and machine-sewn. Each method gets its own chapter with a full technique video, step-by-step loops of the real install and removal, and the science of how that attachment works. Colour matching has its own chapter, and there's a dedicated chapter on colouring and toning extensions, including why they discolour and how to correct it. Clip-ins are covered in the consultation as a method you'll recommend for some clients, but there's no install chapter, because there's nothing to teach that a client can't do herself.

  • Is it all video?

No, and that's deliberate. The course has 15 chapters and 29 lessons: full-method technique videos filmed in the salon, plus 12 interactive science modules you work through rather than watch. Drag a porosity slider, change section width and see the load on the hair shift, tap a symptom in the troubleshooting diagnostic and get the cause and the fix. Text stays fully visible on every page, so you can skim on your phone between clients.

  • What's in the toolkit?

Downloadable, editable resources you brand as your own: a consultation and client-forms pack (intake, health history, photo release, consent and waiver, aftercare agreement, patch-test record, service record), a method quick-glance chart, a supplier guide with a neutral directory of 60+ suppliers, business scripts for the hard conversations (price, "why so expensive," saying no), a service-menu template, client aftercare cards, and a glossary. Every template uses placeholders for your business details. UNBRANDED appears only as a small "template provided by" credit.

  • Do I get a certificate?

Yes. When you complete 100% of the course, Thinkific issues an UNBRANDED Certificate of Completion with your name, the course name, the date and the instructor's name. It's a certificate of completion from an independent educator, not a government licence. You still need to hold whatever licence your province or state requires to work on clients.

  • Is it hands-on? Do I need a kit?

It's fully online and self-paced. There's no live component, no scheduled classes and nothing to submit for grading. You practise on a mannequin or model in your own time with the technique videos and loops beside you. No kit is sold with the course: you'll need the hair and tools for whichever method you're practising, and the supplier guide shows you how to source them and what to ask a supplier before you buy. That's on purpose. The point is that you can work with any hair, not one box.

  • How long does it take, and how long do I have access?

About 2.5 hours of video plus the interactive modules and downloads. Most stylists work through it over two to three weeks alongside a full column; you can do it in a weekend if you're motivated. Your access doesn't expire. Enrol once and the course is yours, including every update and new lesson added after you join.

  • Can I get a refund?

No. It's a digital course and everything unlocks the moment you enrol, so all sales are final. That's why the full curriculum and this FAQ are here before you buy. If you're double-charged or bought the wrong course by mistake, email [email protected] within 48 hours and it's fixed. We check that inbox during working hours.

Hair Extension Specialist and Educator · Founder, UNBRANDED Miranda Furtado

Miranda Furtado has spent more than twenty years behind the chair as a Toronto hair extension specialist and educator, and twelve of them as the owner of her own salon. She holds 17 certifications across the major professional extension brands and served as a senior educator for one of the largest of them, which is exactly why she built UNBRANDED: she kept meeting excellent stylists who had only ever been taught one company's system and couldn't explain why it worked. Her teaching is mechanism-first. Every method in this course is explained at the level of the hair fibre, the adhesive, the bead and the bond, so you can evaluate any product on the market for yourself. She has trained stylists internationally, is a Contessa Awards finalist and a Behind The Chair One Shot finalist, and is a 2026 VZN Awards finalist for Extension Specialist of the Year. She is a licensed Ontario hairstylist and a former OPHA board member. Brand-trained. Brand-free.
